Helping the elderly age with dignity

How Senior Care is helping outside the USA:

ISRAEL

Senior Care Fund has made annual grants toward operating expenses of Ebenezer Home in Haifa, an independent Christian-operated residence for the indigent elderly. Last year there were 29 residents with an average age of 82.5 years. Most were Holocaust survivors from Germany, Poland, and Russia, though there were a few Arabs and other non-Jewish individuals. They all live together in a harmonious community. The resident staff of 40 Christian professionals provides all the necessities of life—food, shelter, medical care, clothing, as well as social and educational activities.

LIBERIA

SCF supported a program of World-Wide Missions Liberia providing for the basic needs of 10 retired pastors and church leaders who suffered injuries during the 20-year civil war. Most live with their extended families in the cities of Monrovia, Buchanan, and Paynesville, with a few in outlying areas. Food, clothing, and medical treatments are provided through WWM churches and clinics.

MEXICO

SCF shipped a sea container filled with medical supplies to Centro Cristiano Poder de Dias in Tijuana, Baja California, Mexico to benefit families living in extreme need. The shipment had a total fair market value of $181,000.

How Senior Care Fund is helping inside the USA:

CALIFORNIA

SCF continues its long-term partnership with SpiritCare Ministry to Seniors, Burlingame, CA, to provide chaplaincy and friendly visitor services to the frail elderly in 41 long-term centers in 17 cities in San Mateo, Santa Clara, and Alameda counties. Regular grants support 3 hospital chaplains and 400 “Cheergivers” (lay volunteers from a wide variety of faith traditions), who hold ecumenical worship services, exchange stories and personal experiences, pray with the patients, read scripture and other inspirational writings, and express their warmth and compassion. Approximately 22,000 individuals were impacted as these volunteers donated over 20,000 hours of loving care and direct contact.

SCF provided supplementary assistance for 3 retired missionary couples living in Southern California, toward their extraordinary medical and living expenses.
